What Are Packs?
Packs is a feature on Magic Eden that lets you rip and reveal NFTs from top Solana and Ethereum collections.
And thanks to our partnership with Collector Crypt, you can also rip Pokémon Packs directly on Magic Eden. Each Pokémon Pack contains a NFT representing a unique graded Pokemon Card that can be redeemed for the real world equivalent—bridging the digital and physical worlds by giving collectors an authentic experience powered by blockchain technology.
Buying and Opening a Pack
Here’s how the Pack experience works from start to finish:
Sign in to Magic Eden with your wallet as you normally would.
Go to Packs
Navigate to the magiceden.io/packs page to view available Packs across different collections and price points. (Packs page can be located under the ‘Play’ Tab at the top of our homepage.)
Select a Pack
Choose the Pack you’d like to rip, then click “Buy Pack”.
You’ll be asked to sign a transaction authorizing the purchase.
See What You Got
Once your payment transaction is confirmed, our backend runs a secure off-chain RNG simulation.
Your result is then revealed in the Packs user interface.
Pokémon Packs
Pokémon Packs are powered by Collector Crypt and contain tokenized, graded Pokémon cards that you can trade on chain or redeem for the physical card in real life.
How Pokémon Packs Work
When you rip open a Pokémon Pack, your revealed graded card appears instantly in the interface.
You’ll then see three options:
Buy Another Pack → Instantly purchase and rip another Pokémon Pack.
Take Payout → Sell back the card you revealed and instantly receive a payout based on the fair market value of the card.
Redeem → Go to Collector Crypt’s website and sign in with the same wallet to redeem your tokenized card for the physical card in real life.
Payout Value
The value of the payout offer is based on the pack’s payout rate multiplied by the fair market value of the card.
$50 Pokémon Pack: 85% payout
$250 Pokémon Pack: 90% payout
Here’s an example:
Pack Purchased: $250 Pokemon Pack
Pack Payout Rate: 90%
Revealed Card Fair Market Value: $1,000
Payout Offer: $900 (1000*0.9)
Payout Time Window
You have 72 hours to sell back the tokenized Pokémon card for the payout.
After 72 hours, the tokenized Pokémon card will no longer be eligible to be sold back to Collector Crypt, but you can still trade it on the marketplace or redeem it for the physical card.
Redeeming Your Card
You can redeem a tokenized Pokémon card for the physical card in real life by:
Clicking “Redeem” in the Pack results interface
Clicking “Redeem” from your Activity page
Clicking “Redeem” takes you to Collector Crypt’s website where you can then follow these steps to complete the process:
Log in / Sign up with the same wallet containing your tokenized Pokemon card
Go to your Profile page
Click the tokenized Pokemon card you want to redeem to go to its item detail page
Click the more options button and then select “Remove from marketplace”
Fill out your shipping information and check out
NFT Packs
NFT Packs contain digital collectibles from top Solana and Ethereum collections.
How NFT Packs Work
When you rip open a NFT Pack, you will reveal a random NFT collection. You’ll then see two options:
Take Payout → Instantly receive a payout based on the NFT collection’s floor price and top offer.
Take NFT → Instantly receive a random NFT from the collection you revealed.
Payout Value
The value of the payout offer is based on either the revealed NFT collection’s floor price or its top offer, whichever is higher:
Payout 90% of the floor price, or
Payout 101% of the collections top offer
Here’s an example:
Revealed NFT Collection Floor Price: $1,000
Calculated Payout Value: $900
Revealed NFT Collection Top Offer: $950
Calculated Payout Value: $959.50 (950 * 1.01)
Final Payout Offer Value: $959.50
Payout Time Window
You have 5 minutes to choose between taking the payout or taking the NFT.
If you accidentally close the Packs interface before making a choice, you can re-access the choice selection interface from your Activity page.
If no choice is made before the timer runs out, the payout will be automatically issued.
NFT Availability
NFT Packs are powered by NFTs listed on the Magic Eden marketplace. This means:
When you rip open a NFT Pack and choose to take the NFT, we purchase a random NFT from the revealed collection and transfer it to your wallet.
If NFT fulfilment fails, you will receive a payout equal to the NFT’s listed price instead.
Understanding Pack Drop Rates
Before you rip, you can check the drop rates for each Pack to see the chances and expected value ranges of potential outcomes. This makes it clear what you’re playing for and helps you make informed choices before purchasing.
Please Note: Drop rates and expected values are subject to change and may differ between Pack types.

Choosing Accept Offer (instant buyback) does not count as trading NFTs, but you will still receive progress for ripping the pack.
Some Packs may offer bonus rewards activity during special events.
Please note: You must be staking $ME to be eligible for rewards. You can learn more in our detailed article here!

FAQ
Q: Can I trade Packs themselves?
No - Packs are not digital assets in and of themselves. You can only trade the NFTs revealed inside.
Q: What happens if I close the Packs user interface without making a choice?
If you close the user interface, you can re-access your revealed results and make a choice from your Activity page.
For NFT Packs, you have 5 minutes to choose between taking the payout or taking the NFT. If no choice is made before the timer runs out, the payout will be automatically issued.
For Pokémon Packs, you have 72 hours to sell back your tokenized card to Collector Crypt. After 72 hours, you will no longer be able to sell back your card but it can still be traded on the marketplace or redeemed for the physical card in real life.
Q: Are Packs provably fair?
Magic Eden uses a PRNG strategy that relies on a commit/reveal pattern similar to the Fair Coin Flip proposed by Bruce Schneier.
The user provides some intention, e.g. purchasing a specific Pack.
The user commits that data to the blockchain
Once confirmed, our side takes that data from the user and provides a digital signature of the data. This signature is impossible for the user to predict.
The signature is sent to the blockchain, where it’s then validated as coming from Magic Eden and as a signature for the user input data.
If the signature is valid, it is used to generate a number between 0 and 10,000 representing 0.00% and 100.00%
Why this is fair: Users can't cheat because they don't know Magic Eden’s signature until after their commit. Magic Eden can’t cheat because the user’s commitment is locked in before we add our signature. It's provably fair and verifiable on the blockchain.
