How to Back Up Your Recovery Phrase or Private Key in Magic Eden Wallet

Backing up your recovery phrase or private key is crucial for protecting your assets. This guide will walk you through the steps to back up your recovery phrase and private key in Magic Eden Wallet.

Steps to back up your recovery phrase

Open the Magic Eden Wallet app

Click on the profile tab at the bottom right corner of the app.

Access security settings

Click the security icon, then click on 'Back Up'.

View recovery phrase

You will see a warning message emphasizing the importance of keeping your recovery phrase safe and not sharing it with anyone. If you wish to continue, click the 'View Recovery Phrase' button.

Enter your password

You will be asked to enter your password. Ensure no one can see your screen, as anyone with this phrase can steal any asset stored in this wallet.

Reveal and back up

Click the 'Reveal' button to show the recovery phrase. Write it down with a pen and paper to back it up securely. Click 'Continue' to continue the Backup process.


Complete the Backup process

You will be asked to click the word that is in your recovery phrase that you just wrote down. Click 'Continue'. You will be asked once again to click the word that is in your recovery phrase. Click 'Confirm' and you will have successfully completed your Backup process.

Steps to back up your private key

Open the Magic Eden Wallet app

Follow the same steps as above to access the security settings and 'Back Up'.

View private key

Instead of clicking the 'Reveal' button, click on the key icon in the top right corner.

Viewing your private key will only be available once you have completed the Back Up Recovery Phrase process described in the beginning of the article.


Select network

Choose the network for which you want the private key. Note that private key export for the Ordinals (Taproot) address is not currently available, but all other networks and addresses can be exported.

Use caution

Anyone with this key can steal any asset stored in this wallet. Use caution if creating a digital copy and ensure it is stored securely. To proceed, click the pink 'View Key' button.

Backing up your recovery phrase or private key is essential for securing your assets. Never share these details with anyone and store them in a safe place to prevent unauthorized access.
