Understanding Third Party API Providers in Magic Eden Wallet

Enhanced crypto swaps: Third-party integration.

Updated over a week ago

At Magic Eden, we prioritize the safety and security of our users and the web3 ecosystem. We understand that navigating the world of cryptocurrency can be complex, which is why we're committed to providing clarity on how the swap functionality in the Magic Eden Wallet works and how we handle user inquiries and concerns.

Swap software provided by Exodus

Magic Eden Wallet offers a seamless cross-chain swap experience, supported by our partnership with Exodus. Our goal is to provide you with the fastest and most convenient swap experience possible. It's important to note that Magic Eden itself does not directly conduct any swaps. Instead, Magic Eden Wallet relies on Exodus software and their swap aggregator that connects you to third-party api-providers to facilitate these transactions.

What are third party API providers?

Third-party API providers are external services and platforms which are engaged to execute cryptocurrency swaps and provide real-time market data. These providers include:

  • Cryptocurrency exchanges for token-to-token exchanges, such as Changelly, ChangeHero, and n.Exchange.

  • Information providers for price data and market information, such as Coingecko and Coinmarketcap.

Terms of service and usage

By using the Magic Eden Wallet and engaging in swap transactions, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions set forth by Exodus. It's essential to review and understand these terms, as they govern your use of their services. You can access the Exodus terms of service here.

Additional security measures in rare cases

In rare cases, certain swaps may trigger security protocols through these providers to safeguard both you and the ecosystem. These security protocols are designed to detect and mitigate potential risks such as fraudulent activity, unauthorized access, or suspicious transactions. When such protocols are triggered, additional measures may be necessary to ensure the swap is completed successfully.

These additional measures could include:

Enhanced verification procedures

In some cases, third-party API providers may require additional verification steps before completing a transaction. In these instances, you may be required to provide additional documentation or complete identity verification.

Temporary hold or suspension

Sometimes, your funds may be held by the third-party API (and possibly refunded) until the additional verification steps are completed. Magic Eden and Exodus is not involved with the holding of funds or suspension of trading.
