To help keep your assets safe, the Magic Eden app now includes spam prevention features that flag tokens with potential risks. These warnings are powered by GeckoTerminal risk assessment data and appear across key parts of the app:
Portfolio page
Token details page
Swap page
This guide explains how the warnings work, what they mean, and how you can use them to make more informed decisions.
Where You’ll See Spam Warnings
1. Portfolio Page
When browsing your portfolio, tokens flagged with risks will show a warning icon ⚠️. This gives you an at-a-glance view of potentially unsafe assets.
2. Token Details Page
On the token details page, a Risk Assessment section appears if the token has been flagged. This section shows a score (e.g., 24/100) along with a list of risk factors.
3. Swap Page
Before completing a swap, you’ll see caution banners if the selected token has been flagged with risks. This helps you avoid interacting with suspicious assets.
What the Risk Factors Mean
If a token is flagged, you may see one or more of the following risk factors:
Not Sellable – The token cannot be sold.
Honeypot – Scam tokens that allow buying but block or trap you from selling.
Low Liquidity – Harder to trade due to limited liquidity (e.g., <$63K).
Low Number of Unique Holders – Indicates low community distribution.
Top 10 Holders Control Large % – Concentration of supply among few wallets.
Recently Created – Token was only created a few hours ago, raising risk of spam.
Each factor includes an explanation so you can better understand the potential risks.
Why This Matters
Spam tokens can clutter your wallet and sometimes pose real risks. By surfacing warnings:
You get clear signals before buying, swapping, or tracking a token.
You can make safer choices without having to research each token manually.
You avoid common traps like honeypots and unsellable tokens.
Powered by GeckoTerminal
All risk assessments are sourced from GeckoTerminal, a trusted provider of on-chain data. Scores and warnings update dynamically as new information becomes available.
Best Practices
Always review the Risk Assessment section before interacting with a token.
Treat low scores (e.g., under 30/100) as high-risk.
Use caution when swapping into newly created tokens or those with poor liquidity.
Remember: Warnings don’t guarantee a token is a scam, but they highlight risk factors worth considering.
