All you need to know relating to the latest update on EVM Creator Royalties

Updated over a week ago

Creator-facing Questions:

Q: My collection is on ERC721C, is there anything I need to do?

A: The royalties will continue to be enforced at the same percentage and receiver wallet address you indicated. We encourage you to create an account on Creator Hub to manage your collection through our one-click migration tool via the "Migrate Now" button. It will require 2 approvals.

Q: If I do not migrate my collection on Creator Hub, will my royalty be affected? (NOTE: this only applies to ERC721C Collection)

A: No, it will not be affected. It just allows you to migrate it so in future, it will be easier to manage your collection

Q: My collection is on ERC721/ERC1155/ERC721A/others apart on ERC721C, is there anything I need to do?

A: There is nothing you need to do. Moving forward, royalties for all new listings will be optional. Sellers of your NFTs can decide how much royalties to pay. The receiver address remains the same.

Q: If an existing collection is not getting royalties, can i enforce royalties?

A: Not likely unless the collection contract is upgradeable. If the contract is upgradeable, they can upgrade it to ERC721C and enforce royalty.

Q: How to enforce creator royalties if I am a new creator?

A: If you wish to enforce royalty, you need to deploy your contract with ERC721C.

Q: Can I enforce creator royalties using Operator filter?

A: No, we will only enforce royalties for ERC721C collections.

User-related Question:

Q: Previously I have listed an NFT, do I have to pay royalty on that listing?
A: If the NFT is ERC721C, royalty will continue to be enforced. However, if the NFT is not on ERC721C, only new listings moving forward from 9/20 will have the royalty optional. You may choose to cancel the old listing and re-list again if you do not wish to pay royalty for non-ERC721C collections.

  • If collection has optional royalties β†’ When listing you should see a royalty picker (either None/Half/Full royalties)
