Rare Sats and UTXO Management

Unlock the full potential of your rare sats with seamless extraction.

Updated over 3 months ago

Welcome to Magic Eden's Help Centre!

In this guide, we'll talk about UTXOs and how to extract rare sats with Magic Eden's UTXO Management Tool. This step-by-step tutorial will assist you in harnessing the full potential of your rare satoshis.

Understanding UTXOs

UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs) play a very important role in Bitcoin. They are the basis of how transactions are constructed on Bitcoin. Each UTXO is unique and serves its own purpose. It could contain an ordinal inscription, rare sats, or just common spendable sats (bitcoin) used for payments.

If you stumble upon some rare sats on a large UTXO in your wallet's payment balance, it's best to get them extracted and transferred over to your ordinals wallet!

Extracting Rare Sats from a UTXO

Locating your Rare Sats on your Magic Eden

Head to our website, connect your Bitcoin wallet and access your profile page by clicking 'My Items' from the Profile dropdown.

Once you're on your profile, click 'Rare Sats'.

Here, you will be able to locate the Rare Sats on your connected Payments & Ordinals Wallet. I have 10 Palindrome sats and 5,450 Common sats in this UTXO.

Extracting Rare Sats

Follow these steps to extract your rare sats:

  • Click on the Magnifying glass on the right side of the page.

  • This would open a pop-up that shows the UTXO Details.

  • We can see that there are 10 sat ranges for all 10 of my Palindrome sats on this UTXO, click 'Manage UTXO' on the top right.

Please make sure you are on the "Extract Range" tab, not the "Split" tab

  • Select the sat range(s) that contain rare sats that you would like to extract OUT of this UTXO. I have selected one sat range to extract (546 sats - 1 Palindrome, 545 Common).

  • Scroll down and click 'Preview extract'.

  • The input is the initial large UTXO with 10 of my Palindrome sats, and the output shows the 1 UTXO (of 546 sats) that will be extracted, and the original large UTXO that it was extracted from.

⚠️ Remember to use your Taproot Wallet (bc1p) as your Receiving Wallet for any Rare Sats

  • Click 'Extract', sign the transaction and you'll be good to go!
