This guide explains how to use the Magic Eden app to connect with dApps (decentralized applications), giving you access to a wide range of blockchain experiences, from gaming to DeFi. As well, tips on how to keep your assets safe.
Staying safe when connecting and interacting with dApps
Never enter your recovery phrase or private keys in any dApp or site.
Ensure to connect only with reputable and trusted dApps and always disconnect after use for added security.
Always read the transactions you are signing and never sign any you are unsure of.
Double check you are connected to the correct dApp and be careful of phishing sites.
Connecting to dApps
Step-by-step: Linking to dApps (Mobile)
Open the app and navigate to the Browser page.
From the browser search bar, you can input the URL of the dApp you want to connect to or select a dApp from the Discovery tab or Bookmarks tab.
Once in a dApp, look for the "Connect" or "Connect Wallet" or "Log In" button, usually located at the top right of the page.
Select which crypto wallet you want to connect. If you do not see Magic Eden specifically listed, try connecting to "Browser Wallet".
A transaction signing or signature request popup will appear. Click "Connect" or "Approve" or "Sign" to connect the Magic Eden app.
Step-by-step: Linking to dApps (Browser Extension)
Navigate to the dApp in your desktop browser. Look for the "Connect" or "Connect Wallet" or "Log In" button, usually located at the top right of the page.
Select which crypto wallet you want to connect. If you do not see Magic Eden specifically listed, try connecting to "Browser Wallet".
A transaction signing or signature request popup will appear. Click "Connect" or "Approve" or "Sign" to connect the Magic Eden app.
Prioritize Magic Eden when using multiple wallets
Turn on the "Prioritize Magic Eden" setting to prioritize Magic Eden app when you have multiple wallets installed.
With this setting turned on, when a transaction signing is initiated, Magic Eden app will be the one prompted to sign over other wallets you may have installed. This does not apply to mobile users.
How to turn on the 'Prioritize Magic Eden'
Within the Magic Eden App, click the Settings button in the top right of the Portfolio or Discover page
Within the Settings page, locate the 'Prioritize Magic Eden' toggle. Click on it to set Magic Eden as your default browser wallet.
Connecting to dApps when 'Prioritize Magic Eden' is on
When "Prioritize Magic Eden" is on, even when you select other wallets when connecting your wallet, Magic Eden app will be prompted to sign. This is helpful when the wallet connect modal does not have Magic Eden app listed.
If you are connecting to a Solana dApp, we recommend selecting the Phantom wallet option. For Ethereum or other EVM networks, try choosing MetaMask.
Managing dApp connections
Disconnecting from a dApp
Navigate to the Settings page and click on 'Connected Sites'.
On the Connected Sites page, you will see a list of dApps you are connected to.
You can select each dApp and disconnect by clicking the icon on the right, next to the dApp name.
You will a list of approvals each dApp has. Click the "Disconnect" button.
