Introducing Monad on Magic Eden: A Beginner's Guide

An easy-to-follow guide to understanding the Monad Testnet network on Magic Eden’s EVM marketplace.

Updated over a week ago

What is Monad?

Monad is a Layer 1 blockchain designed to be faster, more scalable, and cost-effective while maintaining compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This means developers who have built on Ethereum can easily transition to Monad without learning new tools or standards. Monad currently is in the Testnet phase.

Key Features:

  • EVM Compatibility – Seamless integration for Ethereum-based developers, applications, wallets, and tools.

  • High Throughput – Capable of processing up to 10,000 transactions per second (compared to Ethereum’s ~15 TPS).

  • Low Fees – Transactions cost less than one cent.

  • Fast Block TimesOne-second block finality ensures quick confirmations.

  • Minimal Hardware Requirements – Designed for efficiency and accessibility.

How Does Monad Work?

Monad’s infrastructure is built to optimize blockchain transaction processing. Unlike traditional EVM chains, Monad employs a custom EVM architecture that enhances performance by utilizing multiple virtual machines to handle transactions more efficiently.

While the technical details remain undisclosed, Monad promises full compatibility with Ethereum’s developer tooling, wallets, and analytics/indexing services. This means both users and developers can transition smoothly without adopting new standards.
